Harnessing the combined power of Sacred music, nature and wellbeing practices .
This sanctuary has been crafted as an offering to life and the global community as well as an ecological project to enhance and preserve the indigenous species of the Serra da Estrela .
It functions as a place with active programs of small retreats.
This is not another business retreat project , this is being created for the deep well being of people and nature.
We run Bansuri / sacred music learning intensive's as well as a sanctuary for those wanting to go deep into their music practice in nature . We also host events and small retreats too receive healing music and the power of mountain nature along with mediation , walks and cold water dipping . Its also available to come and stay alone or with a few friends and be in the deep peace of this healing sanctuary This is not a commercial retreat centre, this is a rustic off-grid simple hermitage for those who want deep quietness and connection to themselves and nature.

The location
The Sanctuary is held 1000 meters up in the edge of the Serra de Estrela mountain range in north Portugal. A mountain range that features dramatic granite landscapes sculpted by glaciers roughly 20,000 years ago.
We have a sweeping west facing, unbroken views off the sky and sunset. It's in a protected ecological zone with no other development for many miles around.
Settled in an undisturbed natural landscape of granite boulders and forests with incredible walks through the mountains to hidden magical crystal water pools and streams. The land belonging to the sanctuary itself has a stunning landscape with its own spring water.
In protected ecological protected zone we are blessed with many miles of wild untouched landscape of streams, valleys and large mountains stretching back right into the high Serra . No other development is around here. Our unique aspect means we are high up yet the west have an un obstructed view of the setting sun over another mountain range ( the Serra do Caramulo ) 70 kms away
Our Shala
We will have our practices in the shala and out in the many magical and mystical spots around the sanctuary and beyond.
The shala is a large bright, acoustic space with windows on all sides with huge views of sky, forest and sunset.
Our loving and welcoming temple dog "Gauri" will be here to make you feel at home also.
Ecology
The land was a an old Quinta ( small farm , abandoned over 20 years ago . In the last 4 years we have worked hard in re-wilding the land and growing and encouraging the deciduous forested areas on the land
Flora and fauna
The sancturay is extremely rich in birds , wild flowers and insects. Since we have been re-wilding the land and clearing pines , broom and masses of bramble- that had overtaken in the last 2 decades- we have seen the diversity of birds grow, this spring ion 2026 we have counted 20 different bird species on the sanctuary so far ! .
Healing waters
Our local mountain stream called Canica, has many hidden many secret crystal water pools surrounded by huge granite boulders and undisturbed forest .
Hikes and walks
The sanctuary has some of the best treks and hikes in Serra Da Estrella. right on our doorstep . Into wide wild valleys, and to the healing water pools.
We offer a a range of ways to experience the power of sacred music , nature and meditations.
